Fundamental, point blank difference. Solaris 2.5 is shipping in volume, is in
wide use, has a fair reputation for robustness, scalability and utility. NT 4.0
is currently vapourware, and like most MS rellease deadlines, it appears to be
getting later and later. By the time you can buy NT 4.0, you'll have had several
months use out of Solaris 2.5.

NT 6.0 will still be worse than Solaris 2.5. ;-) That holds about as much logic
and data as the reverse argument frequently presented in Redmond.

1. Printing from Solaris 2.5 -> NT 4.0 (not old ps problem)
All,
I am having a difficult time printing from Solaris 2.5 -> WIndows NT 4.0
workstation. I've searched teh newgroups and have found the old
problems with poscript printing as text, etc. This one is different.
Here is what I have done. Please reply to my email address
1. Started the lpdsrvc service on the NT workstation.
2. defined the remote system as bsd on the Solaris system (lpsystem,
/etc/lp/Systems)

3. defined the NT printer in /etc/printers.conf

4. gotten good results from lpstat -t
