Very Computer

Well i have a netra 5 running 2.5.1
I have lost passwd (dont ask...dont know how) and now is not booting of
course.

I dont have the cd with OS so....anyway to recover or edit it?

I have an external disk with os installed, can i tell from console
to boot from it???

Once you have booted up completely, you can mount the root partition with
the missing password file on /mnt.  Then just cd to /mnt/etc and add the
new password file.  Unmount /mnt and reboot off the "now correct" root
partition.  

If you want to permantly (sort of) switch to booting off of the external,
then set the boot-device enviornment variable at the ok prompt.

ok> setenv boot-device disk3.

        Tienes permisos de root en alguna cuenta abierta?
        Si es asi, lo mejor que puedes hacer es crear de nuevo un fichero de
passwd con, por ejemplo, el admintool y luego ir viendo como puedes
volver a tener las cosas en sus sitios.

Depending on the machine, it is possible to boot from CDROM or Floppy.
You can then edit/copy the passwd or shadow file.

Start the machine to prom level, then give the boot cdrom command with
the Solaris 2.4/2.5 CDROM in the drive. Check the manual for equivalent
command for floppy disk.
