Problems with passing options to an HP Jetdirect printer

Problems with passing options to an HP Jetdirect printer

Post by Stempien Brian » Thu, 25 Apr 1996 04:00:00

Hello,

I have a strange problem that is driving me nuts. I have two HP Laserjet 4MV
printers using internal jetdirect interfaces. I have the jetadmin package that
HP has for these jetdirect printers. I am trying to print a text file to both
printers with the following command line.

lp -d<Printer> -oletter -oascii <filename>

On one printer this works fine and I get a letter size page of text. On the
other I get nothing. I have the printers hosted of two different machines. I
have dug through the logs and I have found that the request log on the working
printers show the options "letter ascii" as part of the request. One the
printer that doesn't, they don't show. Which seems to explain the problem
until I looked at the request log on the client machine. This machine (used to
send both print requests) shows it as passing the options to both printers.
Somewhere along the way the other print server drops the options.

Has anyone seen this kind of problem before? Both machines are Sparc Ultra 167
machines running Solaris 2.5 and the same version of hpnp from HP.

Thanks in advance!
