I am running Solaris 2.5.1 on a Sparc-2 (though I have also
reproduced this problem on a Sparc-2000 running Solaris 2.5.1).
This is a very intermittent problem, that seems to mostly happen
during high traffic times using the Solaris 2.5.1 machine as
an ftp client:
I ftp to an SGI IRIX server, I can do an 'ls' fine in a couple
of directories that have just a few files, but when I cd to
a directory with lots (> 100 files), commands like
ls, nlist, dir virtually hang (they actually come back empty
after 5-15 minutes).
I have done the ftp from clients that are not running Solaris 2.5.1,
and do not have the problem.
I did a search on dejanews, and saw a "TCP FIN" bug problem
described: Sunsolve Bug ID 4083814, patch number 105529) and I
*think* this is a promising lead, but I'd like to hear
from others who may have experienced the problem I am having with ftp.
