Need Diffs between 2.4 HW 11/94 and 2.4 HW 3/95

Post by Thomas Wo » Sat, 22 Apr 1995 04:00:00

I have Solaris 2.4 Hardware 11/94 with all the suggested patches installed
on my SS20.  I just got Solaris 2.4 Hardware 3/95.  Is there any reason
why I should upgrade?  I couldn't find a "What's New" section in the
supplied Hardware Platform Guide.

Thnx for all info,
Tom

I haven't looked at the 3/95 release yet.  I expect there are more
and/or better patches included.  If you dont have new hardware which
is supported by that release (if tehre is any new hardware), upgrading
doesn't maek much sense, except for new patches.

Need Diffs between 2.4 HW 11/94 and 2.4 HW 3/95

Getting back to the subject here is what Sun says:

"The new Solaris release add support for new SMCC hardware. Otherwise,
it is identical to the current Solaris 2.4 HW 11/94 release. If you're
installing one of the systems listed below, you'll want the new
release. Specifically, the new release includes support for:

        - SPARCstorage Array Models 100 and 200
        - PCMCIA Fax Modem vis SBus Adapter Card

..."

Hope this helps.

I looked at the patches on the 3/95 release, and they looked the same
as the 11/94 release (101945-10, not -13 or -23).

1. 2.4 HW: 11/94, Wabi 2.0, Microsoft Project 4.0

Has anyone seen the problem where running Project 4.0 (a ``certified''
Wabi 2.0 application) under Wabi 2.0 causes Xsun to start using up the
the cpu?  The problem persists even after Project and Wabi exit.  We
have already applied the 11/94 patch set, along with 101907-03 and
102057-04 which were delivered with Wabi.

                                        Thanks,
