Building X11 Release 6 on Solaris 2.4

Building X11 Release 6 on Solaris 2.4

Post by Mikhail Teter » Sun, 07 Jan 1996 04:00:00

It built!! But:
Xsun dumps core with Bus Error right a way. If asked for
                -fbinfo
says, that fb is emulating leo, and that fb IS leo (zx)
and then crashes (few files got corrupted during build,
though, may be that's the reason, but I fixed those which
did not compile (: ) X-comes up if the old Xsun (from
openwin hierarhy) is used as a server.

How does one reconfigure the default path for shared
libraries? Using LD_LIBRARY_PATH seems ugly. ldconfig-program
        or somthing?

Any other insights on building/installin Release 6 on Solaris?
(P.S. I applied fix-13 already). Thanks a lot! Please CC: by e-mail

Following-up on myself... As some suggested, I rebuilt the entire thing
with gcc-2.7.2 (took a day to get and build the compiler itself). The
problem with libraries, indeed, went away, but Xsun still dumps core with
the bus error. Ideas? Thanks!

The LEO is not supported by the X Consortium release of R6. See the
Xsun man page in the release notes for the list of supported man pages.

1. Announce: Kernel Build for 2.5, Release 2.4 is available

On 13 May 2002 17:12:08 -0700,

Does it still need sparc64 hacks or is the base 2.5.15 kernel clean for
sparc64?

Did not show up in my testing, it was hidden by out of order compiles
with -j4.  Will be in common-2.5.15-3.
