Hi, can someone tell me how I get rid of the accursed banner
page under 2.3 & PC-NFS.  Why is this bannerpage a default
in the first place?

It is one of the settings on the UNIX side.  Get to the Printer Manager
tool and double click on the problem printer.  I think that this will
only work for a local printer, a remote printer setup does not have the
option to turn off the banner.  That would have to be done at the
remote system.  Of course you need the proper permissions to make those
changes, but there is mention in the AnswerBook of NOT using the
Printer Manager tool as root, but as a user in the sysadmin group.
