Mounting volumes larger than 2 GB on SunOS

Mounting volumes larger than 2 GB on SunOS

Hello all...

We want to know if there is any limitation of 2 Gb, or whatever, in
the size of partitions, on SunOS 4.1.2. We would need to mount a 4 Gb
disk as one partition and know previously if we can do it.

Thank you.

Yes. SunOS4 is limited to 2GB partitions. If you own ODS 1.0, you can
remove the limitation (up to about a Terabyte). However, you can NFS
mount > 2GB partitions from a Solaris2 machine and it will work fine.
df will be sort of braindamaged (and anything that uses statfs), but
it will work.
