DHCP and Solaris 8

DHCP and Solaris 8

Post by bfeuillo » Sat, 10 Feb 2001 15:48:24

I have my workstation connected to a cable network. I use
DHCP to get an IP address. The hostname returned is always "unknown".
How can I permanently have my own hostname defined to my system?
I have done the following without any success:

1) modified hostname.hme0
2) modified hosts (This apparently is not used with dhcp for local
identification)
3) hostconfig (Fails not knowing IP address)

Thanks
