Need an IDE CD burner

Could anyone recommend an IDE Cd burner?  I have seen several scsi
burners, but I do not want to purchase a scsi card.  If anyone could
suggest a good IDE burner, i would greatly appreciate it

Since the usual Symbios PCI SCSI card that is suggested for Ultra 5
use reputedly costs less than $100 (versus about $200 for an IDE
CD-RW), why not get the SCSI card to use with the SCSI CD-RWs that
you have?

Also, does Solaris even support IDE CD-RW?

IDE burbers do not exists: these drives are all ATAPI.

NOTE:   The current SCSI/ATAPI kernel driver integration
in Solaris is not structured correctly.

As a result of this problem, cdrecord will not work with ATAPI drives
connected to a Solaris machine.

It may be that this is no more true for Solaris 8 and x86, but I did not
have the time to test.

I hope to find a solution in the near future. At least USCSI transport
based code seems to work.

I doubt if IDE will work properly. Maybe not at all.

A Symbios based PCI SCSI card is a better option.

I would suggest to buy Yamaha - 8x4x24 or 4x4x16 or Ricoh MP7060 or
later model (MP7080). Don't buy HP if you intend to write 80 minute
media. It is not always guaranteed to work. Besides, HP does not make
their own CD/CDR drives - as reference to web site reviews.

Sony is OK but not for 80 minute media.

Thanks to all who replied, sounds like the Symbios pci scsi card and a
ricoh drive is the way to go
