I got a sun fire v100 server on ebay. I am able to connect through
hyperterminal. I am unable to get the LOM prompt "ok" as the machine
tries to boot through net and I am getting the following message
continously

Check Cable or Contact your System Administrator.
Link Down.
Network Link Setup Failed.
Please Check Cable and Try Again.
ARP/RARP send failed.  Check Ethernet cable and transceiver.
Using Onboard Transceiver - Timeout waiting for AutoNegotiation Status
to be upd
ated.
Timeout reading Link status. Check cable and try again.
Timeout waiting for AutoNegotiation Status to be updated.
Timeout reading Link status. Check cable and try again.

Can any one help me to reset the motherboad to factory setting using
some jumpers?

Thanks,

All you need to do is send a 'break' signal to get to the OK prompt.
After that, you can set auto-boot?=false if desired. I suspect that the
internal hard drive is the first boot device in the list, but that the
system is in diag mode.

You can get to the LOM prompt by typing #. after which you should see
the prompt lom> ; to get to the OBP 'ok' prompt, you need to sent a
'Break' sequence, which can be done from hyperterminal by pressing
CTRL+Break on the keyboard (if I remember correctly), or by getting
to the lom> prompt and then typing 'break'

Once you are at the 'ok' prompt, you can do a set-defaults to put the
prom back to default settings.

Thank you for your help.  I am able to get the LOM prompt and ok
prompt.  However the probe-ide command  did not show the device
attatched though a 40G hard disk and a cdrom is attatched to the ide
controller

lom>
LOM event: +0h28m43s host power on

Sun Fire V100 (UltraSPARC-IIe 500MHz), No Keyboard
OpenBoot 4.0, 640 MB memory installed, Serial #51494449.
Ethernet address 0:3:ba:11:be:31, Host ID: 8311be31.

ok probe-ide

  Device 1  ( Primary Slave )

  Device 2  ( Secondary Master )

  Device 3  ( Secondary Slave )

Also the obdiag shows that ide is passed

Are you sure the the disk and CD-ROM are actually connected to the
ribbon cable and that the cable is actually connected to the mother
board?   It looks as if the IDE controller is in perfect working order
and not connected to any disks.

Yes.  I opened the machine and see a CD-rom and a hard disk is
connected to the ide controller.
