Hi,

Advice me please, how can I mount different SIMMs in the systemboards.
It's necessary, to add in additional 256Mb (8 x 32Mb) SIMMs in the two
systemboards without loss productivity.

Server's configuration:
SUN SPARC Server 1000,
two systemboards,
0 systemboard, 0 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
0 systemboard, 1 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
0 systemboard, 2 memory bank - 4 x 1Mb NVRAM SIMMs
1 systemboard, 0 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
1 systemboard, 1 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb

I attempted to mount my 256Mb as:
0 systemboard, 0 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
0 systemboard, 1 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
0 systemboard, 2 memory bank - 4 x 1Mb NVRAM SIMMs
0 systemboard, 3 memory bank - 4 x 32Mb
1 systemboard, 0 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
1 systemboard, 1 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
1 systemboard, 2 memory bank - 4 x 32Mb
and lost productivity by 30%.

Attempted to mount 256Mb as:
0 systemboard, 0 memory bank - 4 x 32Mb
0 systemboard, 1 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
0 systemboard, 2 memory bank - 4 x 1Mb NVRAM SIMMs
1 systemboard, 0 memory bank - 4 x 32Mb
1 systemboard, 1 memory bank - 4 x 8Mb
and also lost productivity by 30%.

Where I was wrong?
How thr arrangment of the NVRAM SIMMs will influence on the productivity in
this situation?
What are the recommendations for the location of big and small SIMMs in the
memory banks?

1. How to identify which SIMM slot for defective SIMM?

We bought new 16 MB SIMMs and a week or two we got SS10 crashed
due to one defective SIMM.

From the console:

With this given info, how do we indentify which slot that has bad SIMM?

We had to take out each one until we found the bad one.  (We had 128 MB RAM).

Other question: Can we mix 16 MB simms and 64 MB simms in SS10?
