available cluster names and package names for a net install of 5.7

ok ..to follow up my own post in like a 5 mins gap ....ahhh

it seems that there is a file on the CD under the Solaris_2.7
directory
./Solaris_2.7/Product/locale/C/.clustertoc.default
and another .packagetoc
which has the sort of info I was after

BUT...it's not in that nice tabulated format I used to get in the
install manual :-( ....hmm do I really want to play around with
formatting it ...:-))

cheers

available cluster names and package names for a net install of 5.7

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has ran into the same problem. I do net
installs of all my solaris system and have fairly tightly configured
installation setups defined per host - especially in terms of which
packages/clusters to install, ie my host profiles specify lines like,
(these are examples only) :

cluster SUNWCall
cluster SUNWCacc delete
package SUNWxwman add
etc etc ...

I have always found these packages/cluster names in the installation
documentation that arrives with the media - for instance with 2.6 on
page 142 of the Solaris Advanced Installation Guide.

However I can find no such detailed breakdown with the 2.7 docs - I've
looked on docs.sun.com and sunsolv to no avail.

I assume that a large number of these will be similar to 2.6 but there
are going to plenty new packages as well I suspect and as I have
limited system disk space on some of the machines I really do want to
tighten this up.

Does anyone know where I can find a detailed software group breakdown
for 5.7 please.

Cheers
Shin

1. core file name in SunOS 5.7

G'day All,

I am looking for a way to change the name of core files at generation time
on a SunOS 5.7 system.

Aparantly, 4.3+BSD now dumps core as core.prog (where prog is the first 16
chars of the process name)

Does SunOS have a setting to provide similar functionality?

Thing is: We have an application bin directory with many disparate
executables. If two dump core after one another (we won't ask *why* they're
dumping dore... ;-) we lose the first core file.

I am looking for a method better than a periodic scan for a core file and then
rename to core.what_crashed_me.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers,

Barry Arthur.

P.S. I have poured over the man pages, include files, FAQ for this newsgroup
and even W. Richard Stevens' 'Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment'
with no luck...
