Solstice x.25 9.2

Post by LM » Thu, 21 Jun 2001 05:09:09

Hi all,
I try to setup the Solstice X.25  v.9.2 package on a solaris 7 system in
order to connect through X. 25 over TCP/IP an overseas server. I've
installed several packages from the CD (selection 1, and 6-10 of the
list below), but don't know how to use it...
I did'nt install LLC2, because I know that protocol is not routable.
Anybody's help is very appreciate.

I suppose you licensed the product, it does not work without a license.
Start by defining the devices and setup your interfaces. You will probably
use your le/hme as devices. When you define your link you will be asked lots
of specific x25 questions.

Hi Dragos,

Where should I look for the license of the product (I've heard this should be
free, but haven't got any infos about web-site) ?

Does X.25 9.2 still use the lmgrd that 9.1 and older used?
If so, you can see the lmgrd.ste startup script, or just
run it manually.  You WILL need a license if it uses
that thing, which you may have forgotten to install.

If you use X.25 on any LAN interface, you must install
LLC2, it won't run without it.

Unfortunately, it is not free. Be prepared to pay about $1,500 for it.
You can get an "evaluation" license for 30 days, if you contact SUN
Licensing Centre. The license is per hostid and hostname.

Dragos (personally I HATE x25 but there are so many legacy applications...)

1. Solstice X.25 9.2 Link status: LAPB Link 0 is in state ADM

Hy all,

I have a problem when I am trying to start the x.25 network.

I have a temporary license, so I have to install a new valid license
file each month. It has always worked fine until now. This last time,
when I pulled down the Network Menu (of the x25tool) and clicked on
Start X.25, I checked that the link status (using linkstate
application) was in the following state (instead of the NORMAL state):
Mon Oct 24 09:52:28 2005: LAPB Link 0 is in state ADM

Do you know what should be the problem? How can I resolve it?

Thank you very much
