I added the line force-8bit=1 to the /kernel/drv/pcelx.conf file and all
I get back it EOF error at line 2.

The laptop is a Dell Xpi CD.

If some one has kdmconfig setting would help. I can't tell if the laptop
has gone on the Fritz

Pretty much stumped on this end ... just about to open the second floor
window for flight testing

Add a ";" at the end of the line and you will end up happier.
