Very Computer

I have recently downloaded a version of traceroute from an ftp site.
It compiled ok, but when i run this on a SS20 running Solaris 2.4 I get
the following message:
traceroute: icmp socket: Permission denied

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

traceroute needs to be setuid root (or, better yet, only run as root), so
that it can access the network devices.

traceroute must run setuid root. NObody else can send icmp packets...
