NIS: no domain?

NIS: no domain?

I'm trying to share directories between a sparc 10 running 2.3 and an
Ultra I running 2.5.1.  The directories are on the sparc 10, izzy4.
They are being remotely mounted on the Ultra, izzy5.  Here are the lines
from /etc/dfs/dfstab:

share  -F nfs -o rw=198.108.102.9,root=198.108.102.9 -d "Users Home Dirs" /usr2
share  -F nfs -o rw=198.108.102.9,root=198.108.102.9 -d "sewiv Home Dir" /usr3/sewiv
share -F nfs -o rw=198.108.102.9,root=198.108.102.9 -d "mail spool" /usr/mail

If I try to mount the directories, I get
mountd[528]: NIS: no domain
on the console of izzy4.

I'm not even running NIS.

If I take out the host references in the dfstab, just use -o rw, then it
works fine.  I don't want to share them that openly, though.

Can anyone help me here?

Never mind.  I don't know why mountd doesn't like IP addresses, but when I
replaced them with the canonical host name, it all worked just fine.

1. How to have 2 component NIS+ domain emulate one component NIS domain?

Is there a way to have a two component NIS+ domain emulate a one
component NIS domain?

e.g.  If my NIS+ domain is:  nisdom.com
and my NIS domain is:  nisdom

Can I have my NIS+ server serve nisdom in NIS compatibility mode?  (ie
It would server nisdom.com and nisdom in NIS compatibility mode)

This trick is possible in NIS by using symlinks in /var/yp.  I was
wondering if it's also possible using some trick in NIS+...
