Memory usage/analysis tools for Solaris 2.6

Memory usage/analysis tools for Solaris 2.6

Post by jaden.. » Sat, 13 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Hello

Been a while since I've done analysis on a Solaris server, but now I
find myself needing to determine why an E10000 on Solaris 2.6 running
Informix is having all kinds of difficulty with memory usage.

Other than the standard (vmstat, proctool, sar) tools, does anyone know
of a good tool to track what is being done by Informix in regard to
memory usage, etc., preferably a freeware tool, since we are in a
budgetary period right now where getting new tools that cost $$$ is
almost impossible.

TIA,

Jamie

Memory usage/analysis tools for Solaris 2.6

Try...

The Informix 'onstat' command gives some useful info about the engine.

'ipcs' will show shared memory and semaphores.

Go to 'www.sunworld.com' and follow links to 'SE Toolkit'. Download this and
see what it has to say about your system...

If you have specific database performance problems I suggest you post
'comp.databases.informix' too.

Good luck.

1. Looking for a Disk Usage analysis tool.

Folks, I'm interested in finding a UNIX product (commercially preferred
but not required) that can be used to gather disk usage information
across a network of roughly 1000 hosts.

I currently have a product from PDC called 'DiskInfo', but alas it has
some limitations which have become obstacles instead of nuisances.

Does anyone know of a tool like this?  I would appreciate any and all
responses that I could follow up on.

Thanks
