multiple ttymons on console?

Post by Stew Benedi » Sat, 20 Sep 1997 04:00:00

The system I've inherited appears to have two ttymons watching the console.
There is an entry in inittab, as well as an entry in /etc/saf/zsmon/_pmtab.
Every once in a while, they get into a competition on who watches the
console, with the net result that I can't do anything at the console.  This
only happens every week or two?  Anyway, is this a normal configuration,
and if not, which entry should be eliminated?

Thanks!

1. ttymon error:ttymon cannot allocate controlling tty on /dev/console

I can't at the moment make a console login to my Sun Solaris 2.7 box,
but only login remotely by way of ssh or rlogin.
If I try to make a console login, it gives the following messages:

Warning -- ttymon cannot allocate controlling tty on
"/dev/console". There may be another session active on this port.

Have any one got any ideas for the solution to this problem?
