Why bother at all

This solaris stuff is going to get me the sack.

Firstly I can't print. I have a printer,a machine and a print server, why can't
the damn program connect the 2. I end up having kill this process re-boot
empty the tmp directory by hand. Who the hell test and released this rubbish!
I've loaded every patch available.

Then I start programing, dbx is so unstable that I'm now adding print
statements into my code. What is the point of producing a de* that
does not debug? Who did this wonder.

You don't mention what version of Solaris you are using nor which
version of dbx you are using so this makes it a little hard.

I do know that to get dbx/de* working under  Solaris 2.4 x86
we had to install a patch to make the de* and C++ work
together.

On that note, anyone know when the latest version of ProWorks/SoftWorks
will be out for Solaris 2.4 x86?  Even a guess, rumor, is it our of
beta yet?  The latest SoftWorks sounds like a great piece of software.

1. Why bother with PPP?

Can anyone tell me the advantages of PPP over SLIP? (I use CSLIP right
now, but can easily switch to PPP if it offers any benifits). I hear PPP
autodetects certain options (nameserver IP adress?)  is this true?
