Solaris 2.3 on a Sun 690 MP

Hi all

We are planning to upgrade from Solaris 2.2 to Solaris 2.3 (about
time) on our Sun 690 MP server. The 690 has 4 Ross CPUs on it. I was
wondering if anyone had done this before and would like to hear 'bout
people's experiences, as far as things to watch out for are concerned.

Well...thanks much.

Cheers
Kris

1. 2.3 and 690 MP

For what it's worth, Sun did have a deal on upgrading the Ross
CPU to a Viking if you were upgrading a 6xx to Solaris.  The order
number was UG-M120-M41-PROMO.  It included a new set of boot
proms.  I don't know if they're still doing it.  If you go this
route and are currently running SunOS 4.1.2 or earlier, be
forwarned that your new Viking won't boot your old OS!  Have
your Solaris CD handy.  The 90 day warranty on this part appears
to include phone software support for Solaris, if you aren't on
a metallic contract.
