Not seen much written on the group about Sun's V880server.  Anyone used one
yet, have any comments?

They look excellent but they're not very configurable.  You can only
order three separate configs (2cpu 4gb 6disks / 4cpu 8gb 6disks /
everything).  You can add another part which gives you the other six
disks, backplane and connections.  You can dual attach these disks with
an optional fc-al card and cable (and use vxvm to manage the alternate
pathing at the app level) and there's a rackmount kit.  And that's it
really.

I'd be interested to see some performance comments from people using it
in live applications, especially compared against, say a 280R or a
Blade 1000.

1. daktari fru busy bug

Hi all daktari runners,
now I have the answer from sun for the "fru: device busy" messages on
daktari
workaround: By either stopping the DR daemon
        (/etc/init.d/sf880dr stop) or moving the
startup script out of the way. cd /etc/rc2.d
mv S77sf880dr s77sf880dr and rebooting the
error messages go away. Although in doing this
you no longer have PCI DR capabilities

a patch is on the way: 110842-08 (release date is not yet fixed)

best wishes
