We have Solaris 2.3 running on a Sparcserver 10. My console
is a terminal that emulates a wyse on port A.
When I reboot the system, the ttymon process that's supposed to
be spawned by init is not starting, and I can't log into the console.
I've tried touching the inittab and kill -HUP'ing the init process,
editing the inittab and doing the same, and other variations on this,
and I can never get the ttymon to start up right then.
However, after having fiddled like this, a day or so later when I come
back to the machine, the ttymon *has* started.
Does anyone have any clue what is going on here? It's getting frustrating
and interfering with backups which are run from the console.
