DPS and Framemaker Problem

DPS and Framemaker Problem

Post by Heijo Ehl » Thu, 30 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Hi all,

need help with DPS ( Display Postscript ) and Framemaker 5.1 on
Sparcstation 20 running Solaris 2.5.1 and Solaris 2.6 in normal
installations.
We have same older Framemaker documents with imported EPS-graphics.
When I edit the document on the Solaris 2.5.1 Framemaker can display
all the graphics without a problem. On Solaris 2.6 as the user I see
only white boxes ( not grey ). If I change the size of the site from
100% to 120% or 140%, in same graphics you can see a part of it, but
not all.
DPS is running on both machines. With Framemaker 5.5 it is the same.
So I think it is a X problem and not a Framemaker problem.

Any ideas ??

Thanks in advanced

Heijo

Well, as I recall Framemaker doesn't utilize DPS at all, it has its
own PS-renderer built in!
Try running framemaker on an X-terminal and you'll know what I'm
talking about.

1. no /dev/dp with dp-4.0

Hi,
I'm trying to set up dp-4.0 on a solaris machine.

Everything seems to build ok, and install ok.

When I try to start the daemon,  I get an error saying that
        the device /dev/dp doesn't exisit.

I've already loaded the modules dp using modload /usr/kernel/drv/dp

If I put a soft link to this routine, the file type is wrong.

I don't know how this /dev/dp file is supposed to get created.

ipconfig dp0 plumb fails also because the file /dev/fp doesn't
        exist.

        Any suggestions.

        thanks, email preferred.
