Export DISPLAY as root.

Hi all,

I would like to be able to load up veritas file manager in an xwindows
session without sitting at the console.

Here is what I try to get when I export the display after su'ing to
root:

Xlib: connection to "10.20.70.50:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Error: Can't open display: 10.20.70.50:0.0

Is there any way around this, or is this a hard-coded security feature?

You have allowed a connection on the X-Server?
So on 10.20.70.50 use this command:

xhost + IP-Nummer-of-client

It's a real remote Xsession, isn't it?
If he was sitting in front of this computer and just wanted to use
an application as root your solution would be best. I did not found
a method to use xauth remotely.

BTW.
there a small mistake in your command.

xauth extract - $DISPLAY | su -c 'xauth merge -';su

1. X11 display fails while exporting display on telnet

Because localhost (almost) always maps to 127.0.0.1 (or yourself) so farg is
trying to open an X display on itself not on your other system - try setting
display to the IP address of the system running the X server.
