Very Computer

Please can somebody tell me how do I print a file of any type in landscape
format using lp. I have tried mp -l filename | lp but this in not right for
me! Why convert to postscript change the format to landscape and change back
to ASCII. What if the printer is not postscript????
I am running Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 7 OS.

Then my another question is why doesn't lp print more that 71 char in a
line. The rest is just lost. the lp -o width=80 doesn't work !!!!!

How now ????

        Printers in general are controlled by scripts that live in
/usr/lib/lp/<something-or-other>.  You should be able to find the one
your printer uses, and what oprions it supports.  Failing that, post
the os, rev, printer software (jetadmin?) and printer model and somebody
can make a good guess.  The offhand guess is to try lp -o landscape.

        As for non-postscript, they in general do not do sidewinder
printing at all.
