Hello,

I don't know anyhting about Solaris so please bare with me.  What is difference
between Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 7?  Can someone help me?

Solaris 2.6 is two releases old
Solaris 7 is one release old (and dropped the "2." prefix)
Solaris 8 is the current release.

Each later release contains more bug fixes, generally improved performance,
and extra facilities. Of particular note when going from Solaris 2.6 to 7,
64 bit address space was introduced for 64 bit sparc processors.
