HELP: Need Part # for MAE 3.0 for Solaris

Post by Dr. Richard MacLenn » Thu, 21 Jan 1999 04:00:00

To All Comp.Unix.Solaris Readers:

I am looking for the part number for the MacIntosh Application Environment
(MAE 3.0).  This was the software that Apple developed to run MacIntosh
applications on a Sun workstation.  Apple stopped selling this software in May
1998, although Sun continued to distribute a demo version with new systems.

I have been told by Apple that they will give me a license number, if I
can hunt down a vendor who is still stocking the software and purchase it.  I
have contacted a few Apple-related vendors but they have all told me that they
need a part number to hunt it down (which Apple won't provide).

So is any one using MAE 3.0 who can tell me the part number for the
software.  I really would like to be able to use this program legally.
Also, I would appreciate being contacted by any vendors out there who still
stock this software.

Thank you in advance for any help that you might provide.

I can't tell you myself, but at my previous place of employment we'd buy
disks from Andataco, and back then Andataco included a CD containing
this very software (which we promptly threw away) with every disk they
sent us.  So you might try contacting Andataco ...
