Slow mail deviry (sendmail 8.8.5)

Post by Ram Narul » Wed, 28 May 1997 04:00:00

I have sendmail 8.8.5 configured on my solaris 2.5.1 box running on a
SPARCstation-LX. The locel mail delivery seem to be very slow, is there
a way I can find out what is causing the problem?

Local mail delivery should be done in no time but with my setup it is
taking atleast 5 minutes.

Thank you in advance for all responses.

I have no experience with sendmail, so this is just an idea.

Could it be that the mail daemon is only configured to check for mail
every 5 min.? Perhaps a little tweaking with the sendmail conf file and
restarting it might be the answer.

If you decide that machine performance is actually a problem, take a look
at qmail (www.qmail.org) which is a much faster and more secure MTA than
sendmail.
