StarOffice Install ->Abort core dumped

Post by Steve Bellen » Tue, 21 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I paid my $10 and got the CD of star office 51 from sun today and
tried a network install (cd <right-place>; ./setup /net) It does
a bunch of copying to /tmp decides something is wrong. Removes all
the file in tmp and meerly prints
        Abort - core dumped
No core file seems to be actually produced.

I am running as root, X-permissions are not a problem. Truss shows
lots of activity but no error messages. Ultra30, 64-bit, sunOS 5.7

I get the same on Solaris x86 2.5, which I just put down to the
OS probably being too old. It worked OK on Solaris x86 2.6 though.

I couldn't get ./setup /net to work with DISPLAY set to my
Tektronix Xterm, but when I logged into a Solaris 2.6 machine's
console, it worked. It also worked with my DISPLAY set to a
LinuxPPC machine.

I tried again, I unzipped the files in setup.zip in /tmp/so, changed
their names to lower case and tried to execute setup.bin. It is missing
a library called libm.so.1 (SUNW_1.1), not that it already has
libm.so.1 from /opt/SUNWspro/lib.

        libmp.so.2 =>    /usr/lib/libmp.so.2

Interestingly enough with LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/tmp/so:/usr/lib then
the libm.so.1 it finds is in /usr/lib and ldd thinks things
are find, but setup.bin still dumps core.

The /opt/SUNWspro/lib is part of the Run Path in setup.bin which
actaully is /ccserver/solarissparc/C42/lib:/opt/SUNWspro/lib
Using 4.2 or 5.0 versions of libm produce the same
        libm.so.1 (SUNW_1.1) =>  (version not found)

Apparently the problem was due to my trying to install using the
second rather than the first monitor of my console. Right host:0.1
didn't work, but host:0.0 did work. How do you spell .... ?

You should have one in /usr/lib.

/usr/lib/libm.so.1 is in package SUNWlibms

Install this package:

system      SUNWlibms      Sun WorkShop Bundled shared libm

1. Core dumped installing StarOffice 3.1

When I try to install StarOffice, I have a Segmentation fault - core
dumped :

14:17:07 /usr/local/StarOffice-3.1 $ srun
User Install required before srun can be run, please wait...
Segmentation fault - core dumped
Can't find initialisation script /root/.sd.sh, User Install must be
completed before srun can be run.

I have serach if it would be a linux lib problem but no. All lib listed
by ldd are installed in my /copat/linux/... directories.

Please help !!!
