Forcing the re-reading of .login

Forcing the re-reading of .login

Post by a1b3r7a_l.. » Fri, 09 May 2003 01:58:00

I'm debugging a predecessor's scripts, and can't get csh to read the
.login when changing shells.  All documentation I've read says that I can
force this with "csh -l", or "csh -username", but niether works.

I can't get it to work at the command line either.

Testing has shown that it DOES work this way under Linux, but not under
HP-UX or Solaris7.  I am trying to get this to work under Solaris 8, in a
command line (Non-X) environment.

Can anyone offer insight into this?

"The Israeli objective since 1967 has been to transform the ethnic character
of the annexed area [of East Jerusalem] from Arab to Jewish. Israeli
demolition policy in East Jerusalem is based on similar premises as in the
rest of the West Bank: construction of settlements restricted to Jews,
confiscation of land for exclusively Jewish use, and restriction and
 demolition of Palestinian development."

Forcing the re-reading of .login

1 ) Check that your csh is actually where it is supposed to
be and that it is not some new csh compiled by someone.
     Unlikely but possible.

2 ) HP-UX has no bearing in this newsgroup.

3 ) The Solaris manpages are very clear on how to get csh
or sh or ksh to work correctly in this regard.  Thus
you should check with step (1) above.

4 ) Things like "The Israeli objective..." have no use or
bearing in this newsgroup so clean up your posts and your
email address and then people will take you seriously.

1. Quickie: Does Apache 1.0.5 respond to SIGHUP by re-reading config?

Hello:

I R'd the TFM on www.apache.org but couldn't answer my question,

Question: ==> If you kill -HUP the apache httpd,
would it go and re-read the configuration files?

Also: Does it suffice to kill -HUP the primary httpd?
Or does one need to send a HUP to each of the children?

Thanks!
