Dear Everybody

Please help me to solve the problem ! Seriously. When I going to single
mode on Sun solaris 2.5
I can't find devices that I mounted to /export and swap device . I try
to solve the problem. At the first
time I going to mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 /export again. and try to back
to multiuser by use command
"shutdown -i6" but system refuse me and print words told me " type Ctrl
d if you want to normal or type
password if you want to maintain the system " When I type Ctrl d and
enter, it still to print these words
again and again . By the way I must to going to single mode again and
type command "init 3" . Alright
the system is reboot and go to multiuser .

When the system reboot I read any sentences that I shown below it.
        " mount : /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 is already mounted , /export is busy or
allowable number of mount
points has been exceeded " What's it mean ? How about it ? I can't
understand. Nevertheless, the almost
system is OK I can see /export at device /c0t0d0s6 and swap. But I'm not
reliable in the system by the way
I going to single mode again .That's it the same situation .

Please help me or advice me how to fix it ? It's very seriously for my
server I can't backup a
lot of file by ufsdump (I think it practical more than tar or cpio) and
I'm not sure about my system ,
I don't want to stop the system. Please,,,,,,

        Thank you very much
                                                               Best Regard,
                                                                Chutintra

To enter the single-user mode, you need to type in the root password
when the system prompts you for one.
You can mount the filesystems using "mountall" command.
But, you really don't need this for ufsdump, it's even better to
do ufsdump while filesystems are unmounted.
For instance,
 ufsdump 0f /dev/rmt/0n /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6

c0t0d0s6 does not need to be mounted.

Andrey

1. keybd patch too big and can't use single user mode alternative

I'd appreciate advice from someone who's installed SCO's keyboard patch
named oss424a.

My Dell Pentium Pro 200 mhz keyboard is hanging at various times, especially
when booting and prompting the user to either enter the system (root)
password or ^D. It hangs at other times too, but without going into
unnecessary detail, I believe it needs SCO's keyboard patch oss424a.

My problem is that I'm new to SCO, and don't know how to install the patch!
Although my understanding is that it can be installed as either a btld or
as a binary patch with _fst, I'm not sure how to get either to work.
I can't get into single user mode to try the _fst option because the
keyboard hangs when I type the system (root) password; and when I
uncompress the oss424a.Z file, it swells from just 3757 bytes to over
a million! Although I haven't actually tried using the megabyte btld
file, I'm skeptical that it's not corrupted because it seems too big, and
even if it is clean, I think the floppy drive is too small.

Sooooo.... my dilemma is that both the btld and _fst options for installing
oss424a seem unworkable, and my keyboard is hanging.

I'd be most grateful if someone with experience in this matter would
lend their advice on how to install oss424a. Thanks!
