Solaris 2.4x86 as nfs-client from a non-solaris system

Hi,
I tried mounting an exported filesystem from Ultrix 4.3 on a Solaris 2.4
X86. I frequently get the message "nfsserver not responding still
trying".
On the sunsolve CD from April 95 a simular problem was mentionned with
HP-UX and AIX machines as server. The proposed solution of :
a) set nfs:nfs_portmon=0
   set nfs:nfs_fastpath=0      in /etc/system
b) no more then 6 groups for the root account.
does not work for me.Furthermore, I get the message "Sorry, nfs_fastpath
is not defined in the nfsmodule" at system startup.
Does anyone has a better solution?
Thanks.

1. Solaris 2.6 NFS server, Solaris 8 client

Having awful trouble with write performance using the above setup.

Eg "mkfile 100k /net/sol26server/share/myfile" takes about 5 seconds, but
about 0.2 seconds on any of our Solaris 2.6 clients.

Tried SunSolve, couldn't see much apart from slapping the latest NFS and
Kernel patches on each box.   Anyone got any thoughts before I schedule
downtime and try the patches?

Ta,

Joe
