3com WuOL 10/100 nic support??

Post by ross » Wed, 15 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I have 2 Dell Optiplex GX1's what have integrated
3com WuOL 10/100 network cards.  I am running
Solaris 2.6 on these machines but am having problems
getting the network cards detected.

I am not sure what extension the /etc/hostname.xxx should have
for these card.
I have tried le0 but to no avail, does any one have any ideas on
what is should be.

thanks in advance
Ross

it's a shot - try .hme0 (HundredMegEthernet) - that's what the standard 3Com
10/100 card (3C905B) uses.

  Good luck

Try elxl0 - That one's on Solaris 7, not sure about 2.6. Here's the the
/kernel/drv/elxl.conf file:

    #
    # Copyright (c) 1998, by Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    # All rights reserved.
    #
==> # Driver.conf file for the 3Com 3C90x
    #
    # To force full duplex operation, uncomment the following line:
    #full-duplex=1;
    #
    # To force half duplex operation, uncomment the following line:
    #full-duplex=0;
    #
    # To force 10Mbps operation, uncomment the following line:
    #speed=10;
    #
    # To force 100Mbps operation, uncomment the following line:
    #speed=100;

There is a man page for 'elx' but not one for 'elxl'
