Cannot do mlockall? (cdrecord)

Cannot do mlockall? (cdrecord)

Post by Patrik Sjoblo » Thu, 29 Oct 1998 04:00:00

I hope someone could help with me with this error I keep getting
when I try to copy/write an image to the Yamaha CRW4260tx recorder.

My setup:
Yamaha CRW 4260tx, external, scsi, id=2, block size, jumpered to 512k
Sun 12x ?, external, scsi, id=6
Sun Ultra 1 Sparc/200MHz
Sun Solaris 2.5.1 with CDE
Installed on my homedirectoory: cdrecord, mkisofs, cdda2wav, burnit
Root installed scg & fbk on /kernel/dev

Trying 'cdrecord -scanbus' , I get this list:
            0) 'SEAGATE ' 'ST32171W SUN2.1G' '3862' Disk
            1) *
            2) 'YAMAHA  ' 'CRW4260         ' '1.0h' Removable CD-ROM
            3) *
            4) 'ARCHIVE ' 'Python 02635-XXX' '596A' Removable Tape
            5) *
            6) 'SONY    ' 'CD-ROM CDU-8012 ' '3.1e' Removable CD-ROM
            7) *

but when I use this command:
'cdrecord -v -dev=1,6,0 -speed=4 -data -dummy /CD-tmp/file.iso9660'

I get this error message:
Cdrecord release 1.6.1a5 Copyright (C) 1995-1998 J?rg Schilling
TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM
cdrecord: Not owner. Cannot do mlockall(2).

* How do I fix the mlockall problem?
* What would the correct dev be for my setup?
* Why does empty CD-R or CD-RW disc is being ejected after 10secs?
* Do I need to disable the volmgt?

1. cdrecord + mlockall problem

when I try to burn a cd in linux, cdrecord gives me this message:

cdrecord: Operation not permitted. Cannot do mlockall(2)

I really couldn't find anything anywhere about this. The one
mention said to run it as root or do a chmod +s on cdrecord, and
I tried that, but it didn't make a difference. I'm invoking cdrecord
like this:

cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0,7 /home/supy/burner/temp/cdimage.raw

and running it under linux 2.2.11 with a Creative 4224 4x writer,
(which isn't listed as an unsupported drive by cdrecord), running
with scsi-emulation. my drive is listed when I run cdrecord -scanbus.

anybody have any ideas?
