Sendmail aliases trouble

Post by Vorte » Wed, 03 Aug 2005 23:53:49

Hi,

My system running under Solaris 9.
And sendmail does'nt want to use my aliases (in /etc/mail/aliases).
In my sendmail.cf and submit.cf the parameter
        O AliasFile=/etc/mail/aliaises is enable.
My file /etc/mail/aliases is right formated.
Like :
        root: toto

And I made a newaliases (like other unix systems).
When I send a mail to root, with mailx like :
        mailx -v -s TEST root

Do you know if there are some trouble with sendmail installed during the
installation of Solaris 9 ?
Someone knows how to do to solve my trouble.

Other information :
I had ever patch my sendmail with the patch 113575-05.

Kind regards,

Vortex.

Did you take a look at your nsswitch.conf file?  Also just make sure
the aliases database files were created.

What is the exact line in your sendmail.mc file that enables the
aliases?

Have you run newaliases?

Sorry I made a mistake in my first post : read aliases instead of aliaises.
The line concerning alias in my sendmail.mc is :

define(`ALIAS_FILE',`/etc/mail/aliases')dnl

Yes, the nsswitch.conf is good and enable in my sendmail configuration.
And the aliases database files are created .

What about creating a .forward file for root to point to the other
address?

I'll just assume you also created a new sendmail.cf file from
the sendmail.mc after changing it and restarted the daemon.

As root, run "/path/to/sendmail -bv root" and post the output.

1. sendmail: unknown member map aliases.aliases

Since I did the last update of my system by using the recommended
patches, I am getting the following error message on my console:

Nov  9 13:23:31 curacao sendmail[5676]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): Switch
map aliases: unknown member map aliases.aliases

My configuration: The machine that displays this error message is a
Ultra 1 runnning under Solaris 2.5.1.
The NIS+ master is a Sparc 20 under Solaris 2.3. It is the mail host as
well. In addition it works as a DNS stand by machine.
The master DNS runs under Linux 2.1.xxx.

Any idea what's missing in my configuration? Is this a problem with
NIS+? Do I have to set up some NIS group aliases.aliases?

Thanks,
Ruediger
