I have the following problem on my Solaris 2.3 systems.
When sessreg is invoked by the xdm Xstartup script, the entry that is
created in the wtmp file is flagged as a dead process. For this reason
a "who" or "finger" command does not show a user logged in via xdm.
If I manually perform a sessreg, the wtmp entry is OK.
What may be going on with the environment when sessreg is invoked by xdm
Xstartup that causes the wtmp entry to be dead?

Can anyone tell me if sessreg is supposed to work under Solaris 2.3?
The code for sessreg that comes with my Solaris 2.3 distribution doesn't seem to
update the /var/adm/utmp file at all.
Anyone know what my alternatives are?
