I'm not sure if this will work, but probably it's due to Vis5D linked to
use,
try to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH from your user enviroment to point also to
/usr/ucblib

|A use has installed our Vis5D software on a Sun Ultra 170e
|running Solaris 2.5.  The make runs OK, but when they try to
|run Vis5D they get the following error:
|
|  /usr/local/data> vis5d LAMPS.v5d
|  ld.so.1: vis5d: fatal: libucb.so.1: can't open file: errno=2
|  Killed
|
|The relevant flag settings from our Makefile are:
|
|       "CC = cc" \

Make sure their path is set correctly so that they are using
/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc and not /usr/ucb/cc.

As someone else has mentioned, you need to either link with
-R/usr/ucblib (the preferred way of doing things) or add /usr/ucblib
to LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

However, the *real* correct way to do things is to fix your
application so that it does not need to be linked against that
library.  If you are developing a native Solaris 2 application and you
need to link against the SunOS 4 compatibility library, you are doing
something wrong (and you can't expect support from Sun if you run into
problems).

run-time error: "ld.so.1: vis5d: fatal: libucb.so.1: can't open file"

Post by Bill Hibba » Sat, 20 Jul 1996 04:00:00

A use has installed our Vis5D software on a Sun Ultra 170e
running Solaris 2.5.  The make runs OK, but when they try to
run Vis5D they get the following error:

  /usr/local/data> vis5d LAMPS.v5d
  ld.so.1: vis5d: fatal: libucb.so.1: can't open file: errno=2
  Killed

The relevant flag settings from our Makefile are:

       $(MAKE) target \
       "CC = cc" \
       "CFLAGS = -O -Xa -c -I/usr/openwin/include -I../Mesa/include -DSINGLE_TASK -DOPENGL -DUNDERSCORE" \
       "AUXOBJS = graphics.ogl.o xdump.o" \
       "LINK = cc" \
       "LIBS = -L/usr/openwin/lib -R/usr/openwin/lib ../lui5/liblui.a -L../Mesa/lib -lMesaGL -lMesaGLU -lm -lX11 -lXext -lsocket"

These flag setting work fine on a number of SunOS 5 systems.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

1. ircII exec gives : ld.so.1, fatal, libucb.so, can't open file

The exact line is :
ld.so.1: ircII: fatal: libucb.so.1: can't open file: errno=2
Killed

Version of Irc : 2.2.9
built zith "make sol"

Configuration : Sun Sparcstation 5 with Solaris 2.3
                gcc compiler version 2.3.3 for Solaris 2

I checked the /usr/lib directory, no libucb.so ...

Anyone with the same problem ? Anyone with the same config (to see if they
have the library).
