Is it possible to run X (for example , running StarOffice) within a
telnet session ? Because the telnet clients i used seems to be
text-based ... and anything else should i be aware of ?

You might want to look into ssh. This tool is far better than telnet
and forwards X traffic! Use it all the time...

running X in telnet session ?

Hi,

You can run X over Telnet as long as you are running an X-client
(Reflection X or Xceed) on your desktop and of course an X server running
on your host. You can start an Xterm over Telnet and run all the X
applications you want to. But an X Emulator is absolutely essential.

sure you can, if you can do the following
1] make sure you are telnetting from an X-server which allow X client
from that host (see man xhost)
For MS Windows & Mac, there are MIX at http://www.microimages.com
(not many fonts available, and it is X11R5)
Other X11 servers are of Hummingbird, Xvision, X-ThinPro, etc.
   Check http://www.rahul.net/kenton/xsites.html for a pointer.

2] set the DISPLAY environment variable.

3] run that X apps
