tom

use dd it is fast and easy.

for example

2.1gb disk to another 2.1gb disk

dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s2 of=/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2  bs=1024k

should copy the current root disk which is target 3 onto the second disk
which is target 1.

Don't forget to run installboot on the second drive or you will be left
with a disk with data but now way to boot off of it.  man installboot
for exact details of how to use it.

Assuming slice 2 is the whole disk, the dd above will copy the bootblock
anyway.

1. duplicating disk partition RH Linux v7.2

I have a server running a RH Linux v7.2 which has been freshly installed
and configed and is now ready for production but, before cutting it over
to the live network I would like to make a duplicate disk image copy of
the entire system so I can easily restore things back to its newly
installed state if disaster strikes. So  am wondering whats the best way
to make a duplicate copy of my RH Linux system?

TIA,
