Copper Gig Ethernet Interface doesn't seem to work

Post by Sal » Sun, 21 Mar 2004 09:19:41

Hello Everyone,

I am having a problem with my V880. The gig interface is connected to a
catalyst 6509. The catalyst shows the interface up, protocol up, and the Sun
side the ce0 interface is UP (routing table is correct), but all of a sudden
it no longer pings the interface on the catalyst. I am wondering if this is
a known problem, and do I need to install a patch.

Sun side:
ce0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
inet 10.213.253.1 netmask fffffffc broadcast 10.213.253.3

netstat -rn | grep 10.213.253
10.213.253.0 10.213.253.1 U 1 35 ce0

Catalyst Side:

interface GigabitEthernet5/8
description Copper_Gig_ce0_Interface
ip address 10.213.253.2 255.255.255.252
ip helper-address 10.213.192.81
ip helper-address 10.213.192.85
ip pim query-interval 2
ip pim sparse-dense-mode
ip ospf message-digest-key 1 md5 CDMARAN
ip ospf network non-broadcast
ip ospf cost 1000
ip ospf hello-interval 1
ip ospf dead-interval 3
ip ospf priority 10
end

Interface State:
GigabitEthernet5/8 10.213.253.2 YES NVRAM up
up

In talking to some other people here, I am told that they too have
experienced this problem with copper gig interface board, but fiber gig
interface works fine. Can anyone offer some insights please?

Regards,
Sal

I'm not sure that it will fix your problem but the patch for the ce
cards is:
111883-23 (Solaris 8)
112817-16 (Solaris 9)

Try loading the patch and see if that helps.

1. sed -e s/\'/\&apos\;/g doesn't seem to work

Hi there,

I can't believe I can't get this to work - but:

I have a file that contains
William's
Test's

and I want to replace the apostrophe (') with '

So I thought

cat ./test |sed -e s/\'/\&apos\;/g would do the trick, but it doesn't. It just does

William'apos;s
Test'apos;s

So it seems to me that I have not escaped the replay character (&) properly.

If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it - it must be so simple.

Thanks in advance,
Will.
