Want to run CDE 1.0.2 on my PC XTerm software

Post by Bryan C. Ever » Thu, 20 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I'm currently running CDE on Xoftware 5.0 on NT 4.0 (a PC XTerm package) from
an AIX host and it works just fine.

I'd like to, however, run CDE off of my Solaris box instead.  It does a couple
of wierd things, however:

1.  Sometimes it will just core when trying to start up with the following
command line:

/usr/dt/bin/dtwm -display foo:0

2.  When it does start, the colors are all messed up.  I try to get to the
desktop configuration tool and the "busy light" on the toolbar just blinks at
me for a few seconds and the window never opens up.

Any ideas?

Replies by e-mail would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bryan C. Everly

1. Solaris 2.6 Machine (CDE) as Xterm to HP-UX 10.20 (CDE)

I would like to use some of our older SPARCS as Xterms to HP servers.
From the 2.6 dtlogin interface I can select
HP machines but all  I get is the hour glass until it resets. I have the
suspicion that it is  an font problem and specified and
an HP fontserver in the /etc/dt/config/Xsetup file. No avail. I can't
seem to find a place where error messages are
logged and aren't sure on how to begin debugging this. Logings to
SUN servers work fine.

Thanks (please cc via e-mail)
