I'm a newbie to linux, and am having a problem installing samba. Here
is some background:
I'm using a Linux-Mandrake 6.0 Install CD... I was using a P75, 32MB,
8GB, CD-ROM, DLINK 250 NIC..
- Loaded up Linux from the CD, and everything seems to work fine.
- I downloaded the samba version 2.0.5a, and tried to do an
installation.
I get "SAMBA ####################################"
and then a message that says
/usr/bin/make smbcodepage: error in loading shared libraries:
/usr/bin/libreadline.so.3 : undefined symbol: BC
I tried the install several times, following different "step-by-step"
guides I found on the net, but they all say "if it failed see the
samba docs"... Now I've looked everywhere, and the only docs I can
find are on how to configure it once it's up and running. I tried
installing Linux and Samba on a brand new pentium system next, and
got the same error message..
Does anyone know what this means? When I insalled Linux, the CD
gives me 3 options - Server, Workstation and Custom. I've tried
Server and Workstation, but no luck with samba. Is this a problem
with samba or with my linux installation? Is this version maybe
too new to run on Mandrake 6.0?
Greatly appreciate any info as this has been causing me much grief over
the past 2 days..
Thanks!
