How can I turn off broadcast in Debian Woody 2.4.22

Post by Marcin Gied » Sun, 30 Nov 2003 02:07:05

I tried to:
ifconfig eth0
ifconfig eth0 up -broadcast
but received warning:
Warning: Interface eth0 still in BROADCAST mode.

Maybe I forgot something or ...?

Please,
Marcin

one of the ways is:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts

1. Gigabyte 9700 Pro on linux 2.4.22 > slackware 9.1

Hi,
I'm having some trouble with my grpahics card on slackware.
The highest resolution i can obtain under x is:
XFree86: 4.3.0 | Monitor: My Monitor Videocard: VESA Framebuffer |
Res: 1024x768 /w 24 bit gfx |

I want it to be 1280x1024x32, however when i set this under
/etc/X11/XF86Config* it complaisn the "depth does not match weight".
I have downloaded the dirver files from ati, however it is an rpm.
Therefore, i converted to tar.gz, and extracted contents to /.
Any idea's why this has not worked, and my i cannot reach my maximum
resolution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
