Hi Linux Network Gurus!
I'd really appreciate some help on this one.
I am running RedHat Linux v.3.0.3 on several machines and got networking
working really easily (using RedHat's control panel gizmo) on machines using
NE2000 compatible cards.
I also have a Pentium with a an SMC EtherEZ card, which just doesn't want to
play ball. It gets detected by the kernel, I set up the TCP/IP stuff properly,
but all it does is spews errors at me.
I'm using kernel v.1.3.85, because I have an Adaptec 2940 on this machine
(the other machines are also running the same kernel version with no problems).
The card works fine under Windoze95. The parameters the kernel detects are
fine (no IRQ or ioport conflict - same as those under Windoze), but the only
thing that worries me is the the kernel shows the card at port 0x280 and
ifconfig shows it at 0x290 ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - please also email your replies to me
as well as following up in the news group.
Cheers,
Bernard Cena
