Can anyone recommend a decent parallel-port Ethernet adapter for use
with Redhat Linux 4.0?
I've heard Xircom stuff doesn't work but don't know what my other
options are.
TIA

Xircom's parallel port adapter does work, I use to use one

Any parallel port solution will be VERY slow, even if you get it to work.
Dayna makes a SCSI-to-Ethernet device but AFAIK they only have software
drivers for the MAC.
In addition, any parallel port device will likely be more expensive than
a real network card since they can be had in ISA versions for about $30
and PCMCIA models for $100.
Just my $0.02

Try the adapter from DLink

In practice I bet that's true, but I suspect that the net adaptors
will get upgraded along with other parallel port devices. With EPP
you can get 480kB through a ZIP drive, not too shabby as a network
transfer speed.
No, you can't get that speed on a net connector yet. See
www.torque.net for parallel port developments.

1. Parallel port ethernet adapter
I am trying to set up a Xircom parallel port ethernet adapter in debian
1.3. However, people tell me that those adapters can't be made to work
with linux because Xircom will not release the technical
specifications. Xircom tech supports says that they do now, however,
release the technical specifications. Where can I get a driver/setup
instructions for this product?
Thanks,
Chris
