RockwellHCF 56k Data Fax PCI modem

Hi Folks! i'm running Redhat 6.2 in my machine and i'm having
problems connecting to the net. whenever i use kppp it says "sorry, modem
is busy". I've a pci modem and the irq for the modem is 10. i guess the
sound and modem are using the same irq. could that be a problem? if yes,
how do i get around it? is there a way i can make the modem not feel sorry
but connect to the internet?

                                                Shreyas.

I'm affraid (but only 90% sure) that your modem has a slight tendency to use
the processor a little, although this is not that bad, it needs drivers to
do so. Unfortunately those drivers are windows-only, heard some rumours of
using them for linux, but since I don't have such a modem I can't tell you
more ...
I'm not busy, connected to the internet, and sorry about the modem,
Jan

You have a Rockwell HCF modem that *requires* software drivers to make it look
like a real modem. Maybe you can find some, but (since most manufacturers don't
support Linux yet) it's likely that you are out of luck.

You probably should go and buy a _real_ modem <g>.

1. Any modem drivers for CONEXANT HCF v90 56K Data Fax PCI Modem

Hi pros...

I have learnt that my PCI modem is a stupid and cheap "winmodem".
But I still need help, some to point me in the right direction to get
CONEXANT HCF v90 56K Data Fax PCI Modem LINUX driver.
(VENDOR ID: 14F1, DEV. ID: 1033, IRQ 3, I/O 0x2070, COM2)
I believe there are people having the same CONEXANT HCF modem as me.
Please kindly let me know how you pro. solved this problem.
I have tried the CONEXANT web site... there is no drivers or anything.
Then since I bought the stupid PC from COMPAQ.... I have tried their
site too.
NO DRIVER found.... :(

Thank you guys,
Mun Sing
