Binding services to a NIC in a dual NIC system possible?

Post by Toondal » Thu, 25 Jul 2002 19:56:40

I am trying to configure my server to run a NFS to another internal
Machine. The server I am runing NFS server is also my web and FTP
server.

The intend to confugure the server with 2 NIC 1 for webserver and FTP
and the other one will be connected only to a internal network or
directly to another machine that will mount a NFS from the server . I
want the NFS to only be bind to the 2nd NIC so that NFS services
cannot be seen from the outside world

can the above be done?

thanks

Sorry - nfsd.  Might be rpc.nfsd on your system.

1. Can't telnet to ONE of TWO NICs on Dual NIC System.

Hello,
I have an older Pentium system running RedHat 6.1.  I just did the KDE
Workstation install and it setup my two 3Com PCA 3c905 and 3c900 cards just
fine.  Everything works from the system.  I have one nic configured to the
external WAN on the open internet and the other is configured to an internal
LAN.  I can get to network resources on both sides from this system.

However, I can only telnet or ftp into the system from the external side.  I
can't get to it with ftp or telnet from inside the LAN.  As far as I can
tell, there are no settings in inetd to restrict ftp or telnet to only one
of the NICs.

Does anyone have any ideas for me?  Thanks very much in advance.
