You tell it to change the ownership to group modem and you have no such
group. (/etc/mgetty*/mgetty.config -- the port-group line)

Well, slightly weird sequence. If you use the +++ which implies the
modem may still be connected, you would usually use the ATH to hand up
the connection first.
Also ATZ is a terrible initialisation command since it is completely
undefined as to what it does. It relies entirely what someone or some
program loaded into the modems memory some time. Use AT&F or AT&F1 (for
sportsters-- read your manual for the hardware flow control default
factory initialisation command)

No idea what the &R9600 means but 9600 seems like a pretty slow speed
for anything but faxes these days.

There was no successful negotiation with the far side. In fact that
nebotiation seems to have taken 0 seconds, which suggests that you have
problems with the connection, or that your modem is defectie or badly
set up.

I also am experiencing problems with this. I am running a similar
system, and wish to have Windoze clients connecting to it. When I dial
in, the windows box says: Error: 676 (The line is busy. Please try
again later).

The log extract:

That is the client-side report. On the server side, looking at:

1) /var/log/messages:

So... as far as I can see it does great until CND: OKATA[0d][0a]NO
CARRIER. For some reason the client and server side give up, each
saying "well, the other one gave up on me".

For further reference my mgetty.conf file reads:

port ttyI0
        data-only y
        speed 38400
        debug 6
        init-chat "" ATZ OK ATS14=3 OK AT&E0 OK
        #answer-chat ATA CONNECT \c

I've been messing about with this file... added the ATS14=3 line, and
it changed nothing. I'm looking into it further but this seems to be a
similar problem to the first post. If any of this makes sense please
could I have some pointers. I think the problem lies in the AT...
calls been made between the ISDN modems (the server-side modem is an
eicon deihl diva and the client-site one is an eicon T/A ISDN
external).

Many TIA ;)

1. MST PPP for SCO Dialin PPP Server and Windows 95

Hi Friends,

I dialin to the MST PPP for SCO Dailin PPP Server from the Windows 95, I
saw the following problem.

1. Windows 95 can dialin, can give login name and password.

2. Windows 95 can see PPP negotiation characters. And then press F7.

3. "Verifying User Name and Password" appears on the Windows 95 screen and
cutoff the telephone line.

I analysing the log files so many days. I found the following.

1. The MST PPP for SCO dialin PPP server and Windows 95 negotiated the call
back negotiation.

2. I think, the callback on and the MST PPP is cutoff the line for callback
from MST PPP for SCO.

I looking for the MST PPP for SCO user guide and SCO web site, I did not
see the callback disable for the MST PPP for SCO PPP dialin server side.

If someone know, how to disable the callback negotiation function in MST
PPP for SCO, please e-mail to help me. I have very big problem in MST PPP
dial in PPP server and windows 95.

Please !! Help me .......
