Linux 2.0.29 slowdown (TCP/IP stack probs)

Post by Guido Stepke » Sun, 07 Sep 1997 04:00:00

Hi there !

My LINUX 2.0.29, NE2000, ADAPTEC 2940 has huge problems with
* tcp connects:

netstat -a

tcp 1 0 www.test.de:ftp pmx.nuernberg.net:1053 CLOSE_WAIT /CLOSE

Occuring  with heavy load and - IMHO interrupted ftp connects.

Can anybody confirm this ? IMHO one can drive a very simple denial
of service attack with this. (Sure there are others still working..)

tnx, Guido Stepken

Linux 2.0.29 slowdown (TCP/IP stack probs)

Dear All,
  To chime in, yes, I've had this problem as well.  My setup is 2.0.28,
WD8013+ne2000, Adaptec 2940.  This occurs under all loads for me, but
never seems to affect throughput or load level -- tcp connects stick in
close/wait for unbelievable periods but nothing comes of it, so I wrote
it off as a kernel issue.  Anyone had this problem with earlier kernel
versions?
